Rides to Tournaments
For those who are planning to attend tournaments outside of Tulsa and need a ride, or would like to share the cost of gas, call Bill Triplett at 814-0753. He has a van and attends almost all events.
In Feb, 2009 I began playing serious (club & tournament) chess for the first time. I had played chess since I was a little kid, but had never picked up a chess book or studied the game. In 2009 I was able to play in 25 tournaments in Oklahoma for a total of 99 rated games! 2010 looks like it will be another excellent year as there are already approx. 85 games scheduled! These are all from the OK Chess Foundation.
The Tulsa Chess Series was an outstanding success last year. This year it will continue in the form of the Sooner Chess Series. 10 tournaments will be played, 6 in Tulsa and 4 in OKC. While I prefered the Tulsa location, that is undoubedly due to the fact that I live there. [2 blocks from the site used in fact!] I certainly can see the benefits for many others in using alt. sites. I have no doubt the series will continue to be a major success.
I wanted to try a couple things. First, there are a huge number of sites out there willing to take our money for all things chess related... Not all of them are quite as stellar as others however... Word of mouth is a little harder to come by on the net though, so if you've found some chess sites that are worth stopping by and checking out, let us know and we'll put them on our LINKS page.
If you are interested, we have a privacy policy in writing that I'm quite sure is entirely too straight forward and easy to understand to be accepted by internet explorer... But surely not using that piece of junk??
